Holidays At Home - Susie Redden
Country nurse Susie Redden lives on a property near Narromine NSW, with her husband Nick and four beautiful boys | Flynn 10, Henry 8, Bede 7 and Sam 5, whom she describes as “my everything”.
“My boys are aged between five and ten and while the spectre of homeschooling four boys was daunting, COVID and the crumbling of routines has meant every minute of their free time was spent outside, much of it joyously unsupervised. It’s a thankless task for my washing machine, but a fantastic way to grow up.
They’ve acquired so many life skills, problem solving, actions and consequences, the reward of physical graft and hard work outside. The boys spend their days making the dust fly on their motorbikes, or trying their luck yabbying in the dam, knee deep in mud. If they’re not playing footy, they’re helping on the farm, burning off energy and breathing in the outdoors.”
